How a fitting works
Fit it right.
About an hour.
-
01
We measure first
The four things we measure first are length, arch, width and volume.
-
02
A footbed under you
Stock or custom footbeds support your arch inside the boot.
-
03
We heat-mold the liner
A lot of the liners we sell can be heat-molded, so the inside of the boot takes the shape of your foot.
-
04
We stretch the shell
Pressure point? Many shells can be heated and pushed out right where you need room. Both stores have boot presses.
For over 50 years, The Ski Bum has helped Philly-to-Baltimore families find the right fit, the right gear, and get ready for winter.

Questions
Before you book
How long does a boot fitting take?
Plan on about an hour. We book a full hour, and fittings usually take 30 to 45 minutes.
What should I bring?
The socks you ski in. The fit starts there, and we don't keep try-on socks.
Is there a charge to book?
The store's calendar takes a small deposit to hold your hour. It goes toward your boots or boot work if you buy boots or have work done that day. It isn't refundable.
What if my boots still hurt later?
Every boot we sell comes with the Boot Fit Guarantee. Bring them back to either store and we adjust them, no hassle.
Wide feet? Can you help?
Probably. Many wide ski boots can be heated and stretched to fit, and both stores have boot presses.
I bought my boots online and they hurt. Can you fix them?
Yes. We heat-mold boots bought anywhere, for a small fee. Book a fitting and bring them in.
Can I just walk in?
Boot fittings are by appointment, so a fitter is ready for you when you get there. Daily rentals are first come, first served.
Do you match online prices?
If a US online store has the identical item in stock for less, we'll match it. And if something you bought here at full price goes on sale within 7 days, you get the difference as a credit.
Which store should I pick?
Whichever is closer. Both stores fit boots, both have boot presses and a full tuning shop, and both keep the same hours.
